Emergency Room

Accident rates have been going up in all countries, due to industrialization and rapid increase in the number of vehicles on the roads. These accident victims require timely and effective treatment preferably in the golden hour. There are also medical emergencies like cardiac emergencies and respiratory emergencies, which require immediate attention. With a view to address these problems, our Accident and Emergency Unit is working round the clock to improve patient care during emergencies.

The Unit consists of fully equipped 7- Beds, including state of the art Dedicated, purpose built, LIFE-LINE BED. This Unit is dedicated for the care of medical and cardiac emergencies, and one bed designated to trauma cases. The minor trauma area looks after the patients with minor injuries ('walking wounded'). There is an additional Observation Area where patients are observed and discharged if admission is not warranted or are cared for while waiting for a bed in the Intensive Care Unit or in Coronary Care Unit. The Emergency Unit also has a dedicated Labor Room, fully designed to deal with obstetric emergencies. This unit also have well equipped Isolation Room for providing isolation to the infected patients with communicable diseases to be kept until they are referred to the tertiary care center.

We are always prepared for any unexpected events and critical situation that may arise due to the fact that Holy Makkah being a very Unusual City, where millions of people come all over the year and specially in The month of Ramadan, and Hajj. During these periods there is always a possibility of outbreak of some catastrophic infections like has been feared in recent past for H1N1, SARS or in case sporadic case comes in ER or OPD and the high suspicion goes for chicken pox or Measles, then we have a fully equipped, dedicated Isolation Area, just beside the main ER, and it has been built as per guidelines of CDC/MOH/ CBAHI.

The faculty is backed up round the clock by dedicated Residents. The department has 24 hours backup by Consultants & Specialists in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatric Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, Urology, Obstetrics-Gynecology, and Psychiatry.

The Pharmacy, radiology services and blood bank are in close proximity to the Emergency Unit which provides great facilitation and thus avoids delays in provision of emergency care.

The Ambulance Service is available 24 hours and is manned by well trained paramedics who take care of pre-hospital resuscitation and transport. All the ambulances are air-conditioned and have all necessary drugs, instruments, monitors and equipment to deliver critical care while in transit.

We have CPR team, 24 hours ready to manage cases of emergency needs of immediate resuscitations supported by special areas within the facility having Oxygen source, electronic monitors, DC Shock, intubation facilities for all ages, Crash Cart having all the required emergency medications beside fully equipped Ambulance for emergency referrals, if needed.
